Right outside of the tiny town of Buena Vista, Georgia is a 7 acre colorful paradise known as Pasaquan. I will be honest, I have lived in Georgia my whole life and I have never heard of Pasaquan until my sister told me about it a few months ago. Once I did a quick Google image search, I was HOOKED. Brought to life by the native Georgia artist Eddie Owens Martin aka St. EOM, this folk art compound is just a art-lovers dream brought to life. Ran on a donation only entrance fee, visiting this incredible art exhibit is easy! In another entry of Georgia’s Hidden Adventures, today I am sharing my visit to this colorful adventure!

3 reasons why you need to visit Pasaquan.

1. It’s full of different styles of art themes

In a fusion of pre-Columbian Mexico, African, and Native American cultural and religious symbols and designs, this place is not lacking in color or interesting motifs. A motherhood of mandalas and yes, even some graphic imagery. Although this place is kid friendly, you may have to explain some of the nudity. It’s not vulgar just ever-present.

2. It’s an Instagrammer’s paradise.

This one is kinda obvious. I am just going to share some photos.

 

3. It’s within spitting distance of the cutest little Southern town with the yummiest fried chicken I have had in a loooonnng time.

If you are not familiar with small town America, this little gem is a prime example. Buena Vista, Georgia is full of lovely brick storefronts, a delicious hole-in-the-wall restaurant, and charm. I walked around the cute little downtown square, looked into the buildings, checked out the wall murals, and ate at Annie D’s. Living in the South US, fried chicken is not an unusual fare. Pretty much every moma can cook it or there are a ton of restaurants where you can order this Southern staple. But Annie D’s promised they had the best fried chicken in town and boy was it GOOD.
