Music is perhaps the most unifying forces on Earth. Although everyone has their own personal preferences when it comes to music, one thing I love the most in the universe is discovering new songs and listening to them on repeat. I am constantly listening to music: while I work, in the car driving to and fro, or when I am just browsing on the internet. As a solo traveler, having a playlist ready when there is not anyone to talk to is so important to me.
On this note (pun SO intended), I have crafted a playlist to share some of my favorite traveling tunes that I jam too when I out and about – not all are travel related though. Some are just those classic songs that are just meant to be sung at the top of your lungs on a road trip. Some are just soothing for those late night flights across the oceans. And there are those few that are iconic beats with catchy lyrics.
Although the playlist goes on and on, I am going to highlight a few that you need to know! Let’s start off with an rock song from the 90s.
“All Right Now” by Free
I imagine this one is just an American road trip classic. Drumming on the dashboard, playing the air guitar in the middle of traffic, and possibly doing a little head bouncing. It’s a feel good song for all ages.
“I Believe in You” by Michael Buble
The king of my heart and my favorite artist of all time is MB. I could gush about all of his swoony big-band song covers, his sweet honey voice, and his charming good-looks but that is not the point of this post. MB has a ton of great songs but I am recently crushing on his newest feel-good hit. Check it out and add it to your play list!
“Africa” by Toto
Everyone has heard this song and if you say you haven’t, well you are living under Patrick Star’s rock. Aside from it’s geographical travel related moniker, this song has a pretty rocking flute solo. I seriously find myself dancing like Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard when I hear this one come on.
“Galway Girl” by Ed Sheeran
A ginger English singer with a catchy Irish jaunt? You hooked me already. This song is just so darn catchy and you throw in a little of Ed’s rapping and it is meant to be blasted in the car while driving the Irish countryside. Or in rush hour traffic. Whatever floats your boat.
“Go Big or Go Home” by American Authors
I really love this band (and this video!) but the chorus and the hook is what makes this such a perfect travel song. Go big or go home! Travel is not the time to half-ass it.
